Thai Digital Economy Soars 14% in 2022

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s digital economy grew by 14%, achieving a market value of 2.6 trillion baht in 2022, as reported by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA).
Dr. Kasititorn Pooparadai, Senior Executive Vice President at DEPA, highlighted the sustained growth in multiple industrial sectors. This growth is fueled by shifts in consumer behavior and technological advancements.
A DEPA survey across five key sectors—software, hardware and smart devices, digital services, digital content, and communications—revealed that the digital services sector led the charge with a remarkable 21% increase. The growth in FinTech, Health Tech, and retail contributed to a combined market value of nearly 300 billion baht.
Not far behind, the software and software services industry expanded by 19%, boasting a market value close to 200 billion baht. This sector is projected to reach a value of around 270 billion baht between 2023 and 2025.
The data underscores a comprehensive shift towards full digitization in Thailand’s digital economy and its associated sectors.
