Kan Yao durian sells for record 800,000 baht

NONTHABURI, 11 June 2018 (NNT) - A recent auction held at the expo, "Nonthaburi: The King of Durian," sold a Kan Yao durian for a record 800,000 baht. The top nine durians fetched a combined 2.74 million baht.

The record-breaking Kan Yao durian from Suan Rattida was purchased by Chaiwat Jamnongkan, with the proceeds going to charity. The sale topped last year's record of 310,000 baht.

The next highest auction was for 510,000 baht for a Mon Thong durian from Suan Lung Moo. Meanwhile, Suan Pa Toi Lung Moo produced two Mon Thong durians that sold for 270,000 and 180,000 baht, as well as a Sao Noi durian that fetched 210,000 baht. Suan Apiranya auctioned off two Mon Thongs for 180,000 and 160,000 baht. Suan Nitra fetched 250,000 baht for its Mon Thong, while Suan Natticha’s Kan Yao was sold for 200,000 baht.

In total, nine durians were sold for a combined 2.74 million baht. Nonthaburi: The King of Durian is held to promote excellence in durian farming, a historically significant trade of the province.
