His Majesties Royal Initiatives for Forests and Jungles Kao Hinson Research and Development Study Center
This research and development center in Chachoengsao province serves as an experimentation site for government agencies to explore a variety of techniques to aid in agriculture and reforestation. Private organizations are allowed to use the area to develop their beneficial projects as well and the center regularly trains and aids agriculturalists in the province and throughout the nation.

Pikuntong Research and Development Study Center in Narathiwas province
This research center is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of peat swamp forests. The center experiments and survey’s techniques for aiding ailing swamp forests and actively carries out projects to revive the habitats. The center also serves as a hub for knowledge about peat swamp forests and aims to inform the public of their importance.

Huay Ong Kot Research and Development Study Center in Kanchanaburi province
This Kanchanaburi based center is focused on rehabilitating ailing environments and ecosystems. One of the initial actions of the center was to plot out forest lands to be conserved and helped to divide residential areas from ecosystems so that the two would no longer clash. The Charoen Pokphand Group cooperates with the center to help agriculturalists in the area develop their products and vocations while not tampering with the natural setting.

Kung Krabane Gulf Research and Development Study Center in Chantaburi
This study center focuses on matters to do with shoreline ecosystems and communities, regularly carrying out studies to better preserve coastal habitats and sea plant-life. The center also aims to develop the lives of citizens living along the Kung Krabane Gulf and assists them to better their fishing habits and other activities. The center also takes part in promoting tourism to the area.


His Majesties Royal Initiatives for Land and Earth

Hup Kaphong Land Development Project, Cha-am District
Apart from aiding in land development in the Hup Kaphong area, this project also carries out His Majesty the King’s ideals for land reclamation and ownership. The project has helped to overhaul infrastructure in the Hup Kaphong area, better detailing land ownership and applying needed utilities such as dams and manmade watersheds to assist agriculturalists.

Cha-Ngum Mountain land rehabilitation Study Project in Ratchaburi
This project, overseen by the Chaipattana Foundation was launched to revive the environment in the area of the Cha-Ngum Mountain. Land in the area has been divided into three purposes, namely, conserved natural lands, agricultural and living land and miscellany use land that is to be preserved until future need.

Soil Aggravation Royal Initiative
This initiative was devised by His Majesty the King to help remedy unusable soil by de-acidifying it through the process of Soil Aggravation. The process involves flooding damaged plots of land and then draining them to allow Pyrite to react with oxygen and rejuvenate the soil.

Vetiver Grass Royal Initiative
The use of Vetiver grass was initiated by His Majesty the King to counteract the erosion of soil that ultimately leads to devastation in forests and landslides. His Majesty the King proposed the use of the naturally occurring plant, which is especially effective in holding down top soil, to aid the nation in preserving its ecosystems and for evading natural disasters.

His Majesties Royal Initiatives for Water

Mae Aow River Development Project Lamphun province
This project was launched to protect the river banks of the Mae Aow River both from unwanted development and natural disasters such as wildfires. One of the main aims of the project is to clearly plot out conserved lands and adequately separate them from interference. Royal Rain Making Project
The Royal Rain Making Project operates throughout the nation and is a highly beneficial system created by His Majesty the King. Artificial rain created by the project helps to fill reservoirs during drought seasons as well as aid in agriculture. The use of the rain making system extends to many other areas as well and helps to regulate weather natural disasters.

The Laem Phak Bia Environmental Study and Development Project
The Laem Phak Bia Environmental Study and Development Project engages in the study of Lagoon treatment, plant filtration, the construction of wetlands and mangrove forest filtrations. The application of studies being conducted in Laem Phak Bia are far reaching to all wetlands and water sources throughout the Kingdom.

Maenam Pa Sak Royal Development Project
The crowning achievement of this project was the construction of the Pa Sak Dam, which helped to establish a beneficial reservoir of water and also helps to regulate flooding in the Pa Sak area. The dam itself has become a tourist attraction due to its large size and the aesthetic quality of its reservoir.




Other Royal Initiatives

Chaipattana Foundation
The Chaipattana Foundation directly answers to His Majesty the King and was formed to help oversee and support all of His Majesty’s Royal Initiatives and Projects. The foundation itself carries out a variety of royally initiated undertakings as well as working cooperatively with other organizations. The foundation works alongside with the government but is not dependant on political involvement, and thus can adequately act on the behalf of His Majesty the King.

Rama VIII Bridge
The Rama VIII Bridge was constructed upon wishes from His Majesty the King to alleviate traffic on crossings over the Chao Phraya River from Bangkok’s Pra Nakorn side to Thonburi side. The bridge officially opened for use in 2002 and has since reduced traffic on Somdej Phra Pinklao Bridge by 30% and Krungthon Bridge by 20%. The design of the bridge has also become somewhat of an attraction to the international community.

The New Theory
The New Theory is an initiative by His Majesty the King to better delineate land usage based on the nation’s dependency on agriculture. The theory promotes small clearly defined units of land that are used to their utmost potential. Scientific study on water distribution and supply to be factored into land usage and a long term plan for agriculture based on the Principle of Sufficiency Economy.
