HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has opened the Prince Mahidol Award International Academic Conference 2020

BANGKOK (NNT) - Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn yesterday visited Centara Grand Hotel and Bangkok Convention Center at Central World in Pathumwan district of Bangkok and presided over the opening ceremony of the Prince Mahidol Award International Academic Conference 2020 on the topic of Accelerating Progress Towards Universal Health Coverage.


The event was organized by the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation, the Ministry of Public Health and international organizations such as the World Health Organization, the World Bank, the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Rockefeller Foundation to compile and review progresses towards universal health coverage and foster international covenants following world forums on universal health coverage in 2017.


Her Royal Highness attended special lectures by recipients of the Prince Mahidol Award 2019 including Prof Dr Ralph F W Bartenschlager, head of the Infectious Disease and Molecular Virology Department of Heidelberg University and head of a cancerous virus unit of the German Cancer Research Center and Prof Dr David Mabey from an infectious disease unit of the Health and Tropical Medicine School of London University.


Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn also attended special briefings by Ban Ki-moon, a former United Nations secretary general and Princess Dina Mired of Jordan who is a member of the advisory board of the Union for International Cancer Control.
