BANGKOK (NNT) - The Deputy Public Health Minister has launched a campaign promoting a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly.

Deputy Minister Sathit Pitutecha revealed that more than 100,000 officials at the Ministry of Public Health have registered with the program to walk and run for a total of 60 kilometers over a period of 60 days.

According to Sathit, the activity is the first ‘season’ of the Ministry’s long-term health promotion campaign, which limits participation to ministry personnel. The Deputy Public Health Minister explained that, in the next season, members of the public will be encouraged to take part as well, while adding that he is working on incentives to motivate those who dislike physical activity.

Furthermore, he said more sporting events, such as soccer, will be introduced in the second season, along with an application to keep track of all participants’ activities.
