BANGKOK (NNT) - The government is promoting the implementation of digital technology in the insurance businesses to streamline services and cut costs, encouraging low-income earners to have better insurance coverage.
The Ministry of Finance’s Permanent Secretary, Prasong Poontaneat has presided over the 26th insurance seminar held as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in general insurance business development, promoting growth and sustainability in the digital age.
He said the government places high priority on digital implementation in insurance businesses to reduce the number of steps required in customer services such as the application process and insurance claims. Digital implementation such as the use of digital platforms and applications can help facilitate these steps, allow customers to pay lower premiums, and general insurance companies to become more sustainable and secure.
The Ministry of Finance currently has a policy to encourage low-income earners to be insured. The ministry is conducting studies and analysis for suitable insurance products for low-income earners and related costs. This new product category is set to be rolled out next year. The ministry hopes the technology implementation can help reduce costs and allow customers to pay lower premiums.
