97,000 shops registered with Chim Shop Chai campaign

BANGKOK(NNT) - Registration of shops participating in the government’s Chim Shop Chai - Eat Shop Spend campaign, closed on 15th October. 97,655 shops have signed up, far exceeding the Ministry of Finance’s goal. Meanwhile, members of the general public who have signed up and received their allowance are reminded to redeem the electronic money before the expiration date.


The Comptroller General’s Department’s (CGD) Director General Poomsak Aranyakasemsuk, today confirmed the department had received applications from 97,655 shops wishing to participate in the government’s Chim Shop Chai - Eat Shop Spend campaign after the extension of the registration deadline to 15th October.


Of these registered shops, 14,587 are located in Bangkok, while the remaining 83,068 are in other provinces around the country.


Members of the public who have successfully signed up and received confirmation for their campaign allowance are reminded to redeem their electronic money in G-Wallet 1 by making eligible purchases in the province where they have registered, to maintain their eligibility until the campaign ends on 30th November. Persons making purchases using their own money transferred into G Wallet 2, will receive 15 percent cash back on eligible purchases, and will be able to continue making purchases using this method until 30th November, regardless of the status of the electronic money in G-Wallet 1.


The CGD has so far transferred 8.28 billion baht to shops on eligible purchases already made, 8.17 billion of which is for purchases made using the G-Wallet 1 electronic money allowance of 1,000 baht per person, and 112.8 million for G-Wallet 2 purchases. When categorized, transactions in the Eat category account for 1.1795 billion baht; while the Shop category comes in at 4.646 billion baht; the Spend category at 111 million baht, and general spending at 2.3453 billion baht.
