BANGKOK, 12th August 2019 (NNT) - A perseid meteor shower will be visible to the naked eye in the evening of Mother’s Day, August 12, 2019, in the Northeast of Thailand if the sky is pitch black, according to the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT).

The Perseids meteor showers appear annually between July 17 and Aug 24. This year, the Perseid meteor showers will peak on August 12 and 13. Stargazers may be able to see as many as 100 meteors per hour by viewing the phenomenon from a dark location in the Northeast, if the sky is clear. The most suitable time is from 4 a.m. until dawn.

Perseids meteor showers are the second brightest of meteor showers. They are space debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle left in orbit. When the Earth orbits through the dusty area, it attracts this debris into the atmosphere and causes it to burn in the sky. It is a natural phenomenon that does not affect the world.
