CHIANG MAI, 26 May 2019(NNT) - An election rerun was held in Constituency 8 of Chiang Mai today, with the Election Commission (EC) expecting that the voter turnout will be 10% lower than in the March 24 general election.
The EC official in Chiang Mai, Thawatchai Thoetphaothai, said the EC had organized public relations activities, trained officials at polling units and prepared equipment ahead of the by-election in Constituency 8 of the northern province. Ballots and necessary equipment had been delivered to the polling units in each district.
No issues would arise during the election rerun as many officials performed similar tasks in the previous poll. High-ranking EC officials had also come to observe the by-election in Chiang Mai and offer guidance to their subordinates.
The EC expected that the voter turnout in Constituency 8 of Chiang M will be 10% lower than in the March 24 general election since no advance voting took place on this occasion.
