CHANTHABURI, 21st May 2019 (NNT) - The government, private sectors and local people have jointly developed the area around Khlong Thung Phael reservoir, Chantaburi province, in accordance with the project to continue His Majesty the late King’s work.

Chanthaburi Governor Withoorat Srinam presided over the opening of the project to develop the Khlong Thung Phel Reservoir area in Chaman subdistrict of Chanthaburi province. The Chanthaburi Agricultural Research and Development Center is the area surrounding Khlong Thung Phel reservoir and has no trees and its ground of sand mixed with stones could easily lead to soil erosion and decrease the depth of the reservoir. Therefore, they planted vetiver grass along the hillsides, constructed a semi-permanent check dam to preserve soil and water and planted yellow star and other perennial trees.

The project is a collaboration between Chanthaburi province, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Royal Irrigation Department, local administration organizations and local people to follow the sufficiency economy philosophy of His Majesty the late King, as well as to fulfill His Majesty the King’s determination to continue to preserve and develop the Khlong Thung Phel Reservoir area.
