Army Chief asks all related agencies to continue to work in harmony in wake of new Govt

BANGKOK, 14 May 2019 (NNT) - The forming of a new government will result in the termination of the military’s peace and order maintaining units. The Army Chief urged all related agencies to continue working to realize their objectives for the country and the people.


The Royal Thai Army Deputy Spokesperson Col Sirichan Ngathong revealed the outcome from the army’s meeting with its subdivisions chaired by the army’s Commander-in-Chief Gen Apirat Kongsompong, at which he has elaborated the objectives of the army in coming future after the dissolution of the National Council for Peace and Order according to the constitution, which will result in the termination of the military’s peace and order maintaining units, however the Army’s operations will continue to follow key objectives to protect the country and the country’s benefits, promoting development and provide assistance to the people. The army chief has urged all personnel to uphold to the army’s guideline in being professional soldiers and being the supporter of the people in all occasions.


The army chief has also stressed its regional units to continue pursuing smuggling suppression measures for drugs, weapons, and agricultural products, as well as illegal entry to the country at border areas, especially the prevention of drugs and illegal farm products smuggling from border areas into the country, in order to protect the benefits of the country and the people.
