BANGKOK, 17 April 2019 (NNT) - The Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, led his cabinet ministers to plant a royally-bestowed "Yellow Star" tree at the Government House compound in Bangkok today, to inaugurate the "One Province, One Road in Honor of His Majesty the King" project.
Before presiding over the weekly cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Prayut paid his respects to Phra Prom, a Brahman statue at Government House. The Prime Minister and the cabinet members then planted the "Yellow Star" tree in the front lawn in front of Government House’s Thai Ku Fah Building.
On Monday (Apr 15), His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn granted an audience Gen. Prayut, who led the governors of 76 provinces and the Bangkok Governor to receive "Yellow Star" trees, which will be planted in each province under the "One Province, One Road in Honor of His Majesty the King" project. The government launched the project on the occasion of His Majesty the King’s coronation next month. The "Yellow Star" tree is the symbolic tree of His Majesty the King, and it is also a symbol of abundance.
The government has followed and applied His Majesty the King’s royal policy of alleviating suffering, nurturing happiness, and developing the quality of life of people and their surroundings. To carry out the "One Province, One Road in Honor of His Majesty the King" project, the "Yellow Star" trees will be planted along one of the selected main roads in each province of Thailand to promote its identity.
