BANGKOK, 17 April 2019 (NNT) - The Metropolitan Police Bureau will temporarily close 40 roads in and around Bangkok’s Rattanakosin Island area on Wednesday (Apr 17), from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., to make way for a rehearsal of the procession for His Majesty the King’s coronation, scheduled for early next month.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau together with the Traffic Police Division will close the 40 roads between the hours of 4 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to ensure that security and traffic arrangements can be carried out smoothly during the procession.

The police will make sure that the rehearsal has the least impact on motorists. To avoid obstruction of the traffic flow, these roads will be closed only when the procession passes along them.

Today’s rehearsal of the procession will be the first time that Royal Guard troops rehearse at the actual site. The procession will move along different roads in the inner Bangkok, such as Na Phra Lan, Ratchadamnern, Charoen Krung, Thai Wang, and Maha Rat roads. The procession will cover a distance of approximately seven kilometers.
