BANGKOK, 15 April 2019 (NNT) - A variety of summertime diseases, such as diarrhea, food poisoning, typhoid, cholera and rabies strike those who are celebrating the Songkran festival in the provinces. For that reason, the Social Security Office has advised those who have Social Security coverage that they can go to the nearest hospital and make an immediate claim.
Social Security Office Secretary General Ananchai Uthaipattanachep confirmed that those with Social Security coverage who become ill can be treated at an insurance-covered hospital free of charge or can go to the nearest hospital and have their relatives immediately notify the insurance-covered hospital of the illness so that they can be transferred to the insured hospital.
The Social Security Office will pay for the cost of the medical treatment during the first 72 hours according to published rates and regulations before the claim is made at the insurance-covered hospital.
In case that the insured patient may have already paid the medical expenses, they can file for a refund from the Social Security Office, providing evidence of the doctor’s certification, medical expenses and the insured patient’s bank account.
