BANGKOK, 13 April 2019 (NNT) - People in the provinces have been attending alms-giving ceremonies, pouring water on monks and the elderly and asking for blessings on the occasion of the Songkran festival to preserve the beautiful Thai culture and tradition.
In Chachoengsao, over 400 people offered food to 200 monks and novices in front of Chachoengsao City Hall. Then, they poured water on the Phra Buddha Sothon image, monks and the elderly and asked for blessings.
Meanwhile, tourists in Khon Kaen wore yellow shirts to offer food to monks at Kaen Nakhon lake in Khon Kaen Municipality. After that, they poured water on the Buddha image and asked for blessings.
At Tha Luang Temple in Pichit, Buddhists in Phichit offered food to monks and novices to preserve the culture, be a good example to the new generation of Buddhists and pray for peace and order in the country.
In Uthai Thani, people offered food to monks at Witthayu Intersection Roundabout. Then, people and heads of government agencies paid their respects to Uthai Thaini City Shrine and asked for blessings for the Thai New Year. The Songkran festival in Uthai Thani this year focuses on simplicity and serenity to preserve Thai Culture.
In Nakhon Si Thammarat, people participated in an alms-giving ceremony for their prosperity. Today, Nakhon Si Thammarat Municipality enshrined Phra Phuttha Sihing Buddha image at Nakhon Si Thammarat ceremonial ground to allow people and tourists to bathe the Phra Phuttha Sihing Buddha image for their prosperity.
