BANGKOK, 18th March 2019 (NNT) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) disclosed that 55 Thai embassies and consulates-general had already completed overseas absentee voting ahead of the March 24 general election.
The Spokesman for the MFA, Busadee Santipitaks, said the ministry has already received ballots sent from 29 embassies and consulates-general.
Ms. Busadee said the highest overseas voter turnout was reported in Singapore, where 4,151 eligible voters exercised their suffrage.
From now until March 22nd, 2019, the MFA will collaborate with the Election Commission (EC) and Thailand Post to open special diplomatic mail bags and sort out the ballots sent back from the embassies and consulates-general.
Thailand Post will then deliver the ballots to 350 constituencies nationwide. The MFAconfirmed that it will wait for the ballots from other embassies and consulates-general until March 23rd, 2019.
