Export target to China to be raised by 50%, according to Commerce Ministry  
 
BANGKOK, 31 July 2010 (NNT) – The Commerce Ministry raises the export target to China by 50% and assigns all Trade Promotion Centers in China to provide all required information of the markets to facilitate Thai exporters.

Commerce Minister Porntiva Nakasai stated that she had instructed seven Trade Promotion Centers in each province of China including Guangzhou, Kunming, Shanghai, Xiamen, Chengdu, Nanning and Xian to accelerate the search for in-depth information in the markets in each province of China. That information will be beneficial for the private sector to develop their products and to penetrate new markets accordingly.

The Ministry has adjusted the objective of export value to China as well from 30% to 50% or worth 24 billion USD since China is a major potential market for Thailand with the advantages gained from free trade arrangement made between the two countries. Major goods exported to China are rubber, cassava, Jasmine rice, processed foods and electricity appliance.

Ms Porntiva also witnessed the signing of the cooperation agreement between Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and the CP Lotus Company to promote the Thai product exports and distribution in China particularly among branding group, which would help Thai SMEs to approach Chinese market.
