BANGKOK, 15 January 2010 (NNT) – The National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) reveals Thailand’s internet user profile of 2009.
Ms Chadamas Thuvasethakul, Deputy Director of NECTEC, stated that Thailand’s internet usage has increased over the year and has evolved into many forms of accessibility with the use of mobile internet becoming more popular.
Survey statistics revealed that most of the internet users are female, with 42.2% of users aged 20-29. 52.3% of users prefer using the internet at home than any other place with the majority mainly using it for information search and E-mail.
Ms Chadamas also stated that the internet usage rate will continue to grow due to its convenient use, along with a rapid increase in internet services and variety coupled with the upcoming introduction of the 3G network.
Malicious ware and slow internet response were among the top problems that users complained of. They wished that the government would put emphasis on the development of internet security and accessibility.
