Amnat Charoen sings national anthem  
 
AMNAT CHAROEN, 29 November 2009 (NNT) – More than 25,000 local people and government officials in the northeastern province of Amnat Charoen led the nation in singing the national anthem today, as part of the Thai Unity, Strong Thailand project initiated by the government.

Amnat Charoen Governor Boonsanong Boonmee said the gathering was held at Suan Ming Mongkol Garden. Prior to the live broadcast of the mass-singing at 18.00 hrs, many traditional and cultural shows were also arranged in order to display fabulous arts and identities of the province handed down to the present days.

The Thai Unity, Strong Thailand project was initiated by the government to foster unity by encouraging the nation to sing the national anthem together every day at 18.00 hrs. All 76 provinces across the country are taking turns arranging the live-broadcast singing according to the alphabetical order of their names. Amnat Charoen is the 71st province in the project.

The Amnat Charoen community was firstly established during the reign of King Rama III of the Rattanakosin Period. Originally, the province was a part of Ubon Ratchathani and was upgraded to the province on 1 December 1993. There are many tourist attractions across the small province, such as Buddha Utthayan and Phra Mongkol Ming Muang, Mo Lam Village, Mekong River scenery, and others.
