Third stock rumor makers nabbed  
 
BANGKOK, 3 November 2009 (NNT) - Police arrested the third suspect who allegedly circulated inauspicious rumors about the health of His Majesty the King which resulted in the recent plummeting of the Thai stock market.

The arrest came after the court's warrant was issued by the South Bangkok Criminal Court for Mr Somjet Itthiworakul, who was charged with violating Section 14 of the Computer-Related Crime Act BE 2550 by feeding false statements in the computer network that caused harm to national security and the public. The accused was liable to 5-year jail term with the fine of no more than 100,000 or both if found guilty. Mr Somjet was arrested in Chon Buri province and was currently taken to Bangkok for further questioning.

Earlier on 1 November, police arrested Mr Katha Pajajirayapong, a staff member of KT Seamico Securities and Ms Theeranun Wipuchanun, a former executive of a Securities company for allegedly spreading rumors about the health of H.M. the King that triggered a slide in stock market. The two were released on bail of THB100,00 each in the following day.
