BANGKOK, 8 July 2009 (NNT) – The leader of the New Politics Party believed that the party secretary-general, Mr Suriyasai Katasila, had prepared to expose information about a police officer, who unfairly pressed a terrorism charge against the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD).
After Mr Suriyasai had revealed that a terrorism indictment against the PAD was a setup by an influential police officer in exchange for a promotion, leader of the New Politics Party Somsak Kosaisuk believed that Mr Suriyasai must have collected sufficient evidence for such exposure. At the same time, he assured that the accusation against the PAD for its airport seizure last year was unlikely to affect the image of the New Politics Party since it was not a corruption charge.
The New Politics Party leader also indicated that approximately 2,000 people had become party members since the registration period kicked off on 6 July.
