BANGKOK, 28 June 2009 (NNT) – House Speaker Chai Chidchob expressed disagreement with the recent phone-in of the fugitive Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) rally yesterday to plead his supporters to bring him back to Thailand.
Mr. Chai viewed that Mr. Thaksin’s attempt to use Thai people and UDD supporters to bring him back home was inappropriate and unnecessary. The House Speaker pointed out that the former Prime Minister could come back any time if he wished since he already understood the related laws.
When asked if Bhumjaithai MPs would defect to the Puea Thai Party following the results of the by-elections in Sakon Nakhon and Si Sa Ket provinces, Mr. Chai said it would depend on personal viewpoint of each MP.
