The popular writer, Mr. Sulak Sivarak, or better known as Sor Sivarak, has been arrested on a lese majeste charge due to his statement made during a special seminar entitled "Community Philosophy" at Khon Kaen University on December 11th, 2007.
Khon Kaen provincial police and Bangrak district police issued an arrest warrant and captured Mr. Sulak at his house in Bangrak district, and he was immediately brought to the police station for a 3-hour interrogation.
Meanwhile, the probing teams disclosed that the writer gave his testimony benefitting the case, and no escape was attempted. He was released on bail by Khon Kaen University's Dean of Faculty of Law
Kittibordi Yaipool (¡ÔµµÔº´Õ ã¾ÙÅ), and the case will be brought to the court later on.
Police Colonel Katcha Thatsad (¤ÑªªÒ ¸ÒµØÈÒʵÃì), as head of the investigative team, revealed that the reason of the delay of almost one year in the arrestment was the time-consuming procedure of evidence collection.
