Thai export experiences slight impact from US financial crisis

Commerce Minister Chaiya Sasomsub (äªÂÒ ÊÐÊÁ·ÃѾÂì) points out that Thai export this year will experience merely a slight impact of 0.01% from the US financial crisis but believes that next year the sector will expand by 15 percent.

Mr. Chaiya says the ministry has adopted an active policy by assigning Thai ambassadors positioned in many countries to seek new markets for Thai exports. He expects that Thai exportation this year will expand by 20 percent, or a worth of over USD 180 billion.

Mr. Chaiya adds that the U.S. Senate's approval of $700 billion rescue package will alleviate investors’ fear amidst the economic crisis.
