PM calls on exporters not to sell US dollars

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont calls on exporters not to sell their US dollars and says he will discuss solutions to the problem of commodity price hikes with the Ministry of Commerce.

The premier says the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Thailand (BoT) have attended a meeting to find solutions to the problem of baht fluctuation and maintain the stability of the currency. According to the premier, the value of the baht should be similar to the neighboring countries and Thailand’s trading partners.

Gen.Surayud adds that the government still needs to outline measures to curb commodity prices by considering many factors contributing to the price increases.
