BMA and Metropolitan Police to obstruct elephants to travel to city to demonstrate  
 
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Metropolitan Police set up checkpoints to prevent elephants coming in numbers to rally in Bangkok.

99 elephants are reportedly planning to travel into the city to join the May 30th rally, a date scheduled to issue the court’s verdict of party dissolution case. Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayothin (ÍÀÔÃÑ¡Éì â¡ÉÐâ¸Թ) has urged all state authorities to monitor situation closely.

Metropolitan Police Bureau Commissioner, Pol Lt Gen Adisorn Nonsri (Í´ÔÈÃ ¹¹·ÃÕÂì), has asked for cooperation from Interior Ministry to help prohibit removing of elephants from its areas.

Meanwhile, mahouts have been requested not to bring their elephants to Bangkok.
